Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs demonstrates that to be ready to learn, the student's physiological needs must be met first.
To then engage students in meaningful learning, we must seek to meet their needs of competence, relatedness, and autonomy.
By meeting a student's needs of competence, relatedness, and autonomy, we are able to foster a growth mindset that instills in the student their ability to excel at whatever they are willing to work for.
